Humane Animal Rescue Project

Started in 2013, in Hempstead Texas,  as a reaction to poor animal care and overcrowding at the local shelters,  HARP has rescued over 150 dogs as well as many strays. Many of the dogs come to us in poor health, poorly mannered, anti-social , and fearful. Our committment is a 100% dedication to giving the dogs a home they have missed out on. We provide quality medical care with volunteer vets and experienced staff. We have strong adoption progarms by partnering up with websites like petfinder.com, and local business like Patti’s Pet Depot and PetSmart.

Harp is also a Sanctuary for dogs who would otherwise be euthanized or left to live a sad existence. Once here every dog has a home for life, whether adopted or not. We provide quality indoor/outdoor kenneling, play yards, lots of playtime, basic obedience training and security. Of course, our main goal is to adopt our wonderful babies to a loving forever home. Our criteria can be strict and our volunteers can be picky, but each one of the pups deserve the best.

What we do:

  • Rescue animals with severe cases of neglect and abuse
  • Offer a sanctuary for older, disabled dogs
  • Work with and rehabilitate dogs with behavioral issues
  • Foster care programs for animals with special needs.
  • Pet adoptions all over the United States and Canada.
  • Volunteer opportunities.
  • Community outreach and education.

Our Mission Statement:

Humane Animal Rescue Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of animals in our community and beyond. Our mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, rehabilitate and ultimately to re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs.
